Rethinking What “Sustainable Production” Really Means — AFA Workshop

The Advertising Freelancers Association (AFA), a UK membership community supporting advertising professionals, recently invited Carly Stone, Founder of Planet Positive Production (PPP), to deliver an exclusive online workshop for its members.

Introduction to Sustainable Development in Production

The session provided a clear, top-line introduction to Sustainable Development in production, designed specifically for agency producers. Rather than focusing on complex metrics, calculators, or technical jargon, the workshop aimed to equip producers with the confidence to engage in meaningful conversations with clients and suppliers about sustainability in a practical and realistic way.

Carly explored sustainability through a holistic lens, emphasising actions that naturally fit within a producer’s role. The workshop focused on how sustainability can be embedded into everyday decision-making, planning, and communication — without adding unnecessary pressure or overwhelm.

Importantly, this was not a deep dive into AdGreen frameworks, carbon measurement tools, or emissions reporting. Instead, it created space to rethink what “sustainable production” really means, encouraging attendees to view progress as achievable through small, intentional changes rather than all-or-nothing solutions.
